De ICAMH is er trots op door de AMHA in de USA te zijn aangewezen, na de 1ste editie met succes in hun naam te hebben georganiseerd, om ook gastgever te zijn van het 2e officiele AMHA Europese Kampioenschap!

Datum en locatie

Deze belangrijkste show van het jaar voor Amerikaanse Miniatuurpaarden in Europa werd op 11 en september 2010 gehouden op Horse Event!

Dit evenement is het grootste paardenlifestyle evenement van de Benelux en werd bezocht door ruim 26.000 paardenliefhebbers, waarmee Horse Event een ideale omgeving biedt om uw eigen naamsbekendheid en die van het ras te vergroten.

Dit jaar stond Horse Event volledig in het teken van de World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Kentucky. De Amerikaanse paardenhoofdstad liep als een rode draad door Horse Event en kwam terug in het programma, de catering en de aankleding. Een extra passende omgeving om het Amerikaanse Miniatuur Paard onder de aandacht te brengen van een enorm potentieel aan bezoekers die vrijwel allemaal een directe relatie hebben met paarden!

Horse Event, en daarmee de 2010 AMHA European Championship Show, vond plaats op de professionele accommodatie van het Nederlands Hippisch Centrum, Bruggenseweg 11a, 5752 SC Deurne, Nederland.

Judges

De AMHA European Championship Show werd gejureerd door een panel van drie AMHA carded judges uit de USA: Janet Barber, Jim Congleton en Gordon Odegard.

De cards/scores van alle drie de judges werden gebruikt om de klassewinnaars te bepalen.

Drie sets punten zijn toegekend. De punten werden gerangschikt zoals vermeld in PA-015 in het 2010 AMHA Official Rule Book. Het puntentotaal verworven op de European AMHA Championship Show is geldig voor de 2010 World Championship Show kwalificatie en alle AMHA titles en awards.

Buffet

De avond tussen beide showdagen werd op een plezierige manier gevuld met een gezellig buffet.

Dit bood deelnemers en publiek een prachtige gelegenheid om in een ontspannen sfeer bij te praten met vrienden en bekenden, en nieuwe liefhebbers van het ras om kennis te maken met de mensen binnen de wereld van het Amerikaanse miniatuurpaard.

Veiling

Tijdens de 2010 AMHA European Championship Show werd een spannende veiling gehouden, ten bate van het ICAMH Gelding Fund.

Deze veiling heeft ruim twee-en-een-half duizend Euro opgeleverd voor het Gelding Fund, waarvoor zeer hartelijke dank aan alle betrokkenen!

Yes, congratulations on an extremely successful AMHA European Regional Miniature Horse Show.

All the reports from the judges was nothing but complimentary. Comments on the management and organization of the show, the show program, and the way the show was conducted. ALL BLUE RIBBONS for your work ………..

It is especially good to hear judges who were excited to see so many thousands of people viewing the horses, as this has become very, very rare in the United States. It is those spectators that are the next potential buyers, breeders and exhibitors. It is those spectators that are the potential members of ICAMH and AMHA.

The judges commented to me on the quality of the horses, the quality of the presentations of the horses, making comparisons to the US regional shows, and simply saying, the European Regional Championship show out classed the US shows. The strength in the sponsorships demonstrated the hard work the ICAMH show committee put into the show, definitely unequaled here in the US, even at the World Show, when it comes to ratio of individual sponsors in relationship to the number of members in the US. Great job with this phase of the show.

The show program became a “keeper” something to put on the shelf and use as a future reference to creating a benchmark for measuring the progress of the breed in Europe. The overall image and quality of the show program was tops.

The number of horses and entries increased over last year, by all reports, over 20%. This type of growth in one years time is very important. And it reflects on the fact ICAMH represents members from all over Europe.

This show represents one of the few times the judges have commented to me on a horse show by saying, “We want to write an article for the MHW.” They believed in the show and the success to take the effort to do this. I know in the past the MHW has not looked favorably upon such articles from outside of the US, but a show of this quality can turn the tide.

And not only was it an extremely successful Regional Miniature Horse Show for the breed, but it was a tremendously successful event for introducing potential buyers to the American Miniature Horse. Holding the Regional Miniature Horse Show at such a venue may have presented some challenges, but the long term payback will be measureable. I recall discussions in October 2009 with the AMHA President’s mission to Europe, and members wanting a venue to expose the breed to more public, well, I think you have found the answer. We could see on the webcam the thousands of people standing and passing by the show ring each day. I have judged many Miniature Horse Shows in Europe, and based upon my observations, the spectator attendance at this show far surpasses all other shows, even the multi-breed event in Oudenaarde, Belgium.

And by hosting such a show, ICAMH has demonstrated its leadership among the AMHA affiliated clubs in Europe. This leadership has doubtlessly created a positive impact for all to see and experience. The exhibitors will tell other potential exhibitors of how ICAMH has produced a fair and balanced show with an audience.

Just work out the “kinks” from the event’s first year at this location, and keep moving forward. I have participated in the European Reining Championships and Driving Competitions at this same venue, and each of those events did not have the same high attendance. Believe me, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

And always remember, showing horses to one another is not breed promotion, “it is like preaching to the choir, they will always be there”.
